Wonderful Works of Nostalgia

A pill of the past
taken with breakfast
Swallowed joyfully
And painfully while sipping on milk
Tasteless but necessary
For sanity and comfort
It's not the same in reality
Life here is abrasive
But life now will soon be the pill
Taken at a future breakfast time
When the spilled milk of the past
Seems like sweet syrup
Dripping from a pancake
That you're not sure really existed
Maybe it was a waffle
Does it even matter
You ate it
And it no longer exists
But you reminisce
Don't you realize
This cycle is fruitless
Today your breakfast is warm
It's lovely
Why do you take these pills
Supplements aren't needed
Are they?
it will be the same breakfast
Until you learn to eat better
A balanced meal
With all the nutrients you need
I promise you
There's no need for these pills
The breakfast of the past
Already served its purpose
a visionary has use for the past
But not in the form of a pill
the point is to eliminate
The need for supplements
